We’re more than a little excited about summer vacation here on the blog. We rolled out our Summer Book Club yesterday. (Find out about the book we picked here.) And we’ve pulled up gobs of posts from our archives about how to make the most of your summer.
Personally, I plan to spend a portion of my lazier summer days catching up on reading. I can’t seem to find the time to read anything but have-to books (as in I have to read this for work or school) for most of the year, so during the summer I like to shift to get-to books, those books I want to read. We hope you have some get-to read time on your calendar this summer. Here’s a list of books and studies we’d highly recommend.
Note: Just because a book or study is on this list, doesn’t mean it’s perfect. One of the joys of reading is that it helps us practice discernment (that’s figuring out the difference between right and wrong). You are free to discern which books you love and which ones aren’t right for you.
The Best Book Ever
The book we most want to see you reading more of this summer is actually a collection of sixty-six books, written by around forty authors. Did you guess it? God’s Word! Before you write out your summer reading list or sign up for our Summer Book Club, make a plan to spend more time in God’s Word this summer.
In case you’re looking for a new Bible, here are a few we love.
The She Reads Truth Bible: This Bible is beautifully designed and loaded with features like key verses, reading plans, and highly designed maps and charts. (You’ll even find some devotions written by yours truly inside.) Every girl needs this Bible! Be sure to check out She Reads Truth Bible reading plans as well through their app or online at shereadstruth.com.
I also love the ESV Study Bible and the ESV Single Column Journaling Bible (I use this one for my personal Bible). The ESV Study Bible is jam-packed with notes and cross-references. The journaling Bible offers space to annotate, journal, or draw.
If you have a great Bible and are looking for help getting started, here are some Bible studies we love.
