True You Episode 10: To the Christian Girl Who’s Faking It

Hey there, friends! We’re pressing pause on the Cry Out! Challenge today to continue the True You series with Dannah Gresh and True Girl! If you’re following the Cry Out! Challenge and praying with us throughout the month of October, you can find today’s devotional on the True Woman blog— Samantha, LYWB.com blog content manager

Have you felt at times that your faith was not your own? Maybe you faithfully attend church with your parents and even participate in family devos, but feel like you’re just going through the motions.

On today’s episode of True You, we’ll give you permission to stop faking it. Knowing about God and even doing things for Him is still missing the mark if we aren’t actually experiencing Him on a personal level. If you’re having doubts about your faith, we encourage you to tell someone about them. Ask your hard questions. Developing a thriving personal relationship with Christ is what brings true transformation in our lives. Don’t settle when it comes to your relationship with Him. Check out this week’s episode of True You where we’ll delve a little deeper into this topic.

To the Christian Girl Who’s Faking it

If you’ve found it hard to experience God for yourself, here are a few Scriptures to get you started on the journey. Write them down, memorize them, and stand firm in the Truth of what God says about seeking Him.

We also want to give you a challenge! For the next thirty days, spend one-on-one time with God daily. Set aside a time and space to dive into His word and connect with Him in prayer. We’re confident that the intimacy you experience will turn these thirty days into 365!

We’d love to hear from you! Send us your freedom story—that’s what we call it when God sets you free through His Truth found in the Bible. Post your one-minute video on social media and tag @liesyoungwomenbelieve or upload it here, and it could be selected to be featured on a future episode of True You.

Dannah Gresh is completely in love with her chocolate labradoodle, Stormie. (But just for the record, she doesn't like dog kisses.) She's been married to Bob for over twenty years and loves that he brings her "freshly sharpened bouquets of pencils." She's the mom to Lexi, Autumn, and Rob. Oh, and she co-wrote Lies Young Women Believe with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth!

HEY, GIRLS! We love hearing from you, but feel limited in the ways we can help. For one thing, we’re not trained counselors. If you’re seeking counsel, we encourage you to talk to your pastor or a godly woman in your life as they’ll know more details and can provide you with ongoing accountability and help.
