I recently saw a picture album on one of my friend’s Facebook pages. I noticed that she had a new picture for every day this year in the album. I was curious what this was about, so I went to the album description. This is what she said:
Sometimes I let the blessings in my life go unnoticed. I serve the Lord Jesus Christ who has given me more than I deserve! I am completing this project to remind myself that God has given me plenty to be grateful for—even in the darkest, ugliest and most stressful days of the year—I am blessed. Commence project 365-grateful!
She is posting a picture every single day of the year with a caption underneath of why she is grateful for that object, person, weather, etc. I thought it was a fabulous idea! It’s a great way to get into the practice of showing gratitude. Here are five examples from her Facebook pics of reasons she is grateful.
“Day 10—Grateful for . . . MY PILLOW! Although it may sound sort of lame, understand that after a long day of work, this pillow did its job!”
“Day 13—Grateful for hot cocoa on this cold night.”
“Day 18—Grateful for our third annual gingerbread house competition with friends.”
“Day 78—Grateful for easy access to God’s Word. LOVE my Bible app!”
“Day 79—It was COLD today! Nothing better than snuggling under a warm, thick quilt! I am grateful for that and a roof over my head. I’m also praying for those that don’t have those things tonight.”
She included a picture of the object to go with every day. She is planning on doing this for the entire year. Sweet!
With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, what a great time for us to stop complaining and start thanking! That’s why I want to challenge each of you girls to join me in starting your very own project 365-grateful.
You don’t have to make a Facebook album to take the challenge. You could keep a journal and everyday just write a short note of something you are grateful for. Remember, God is the giver of all good gifts. Make sure to direct your praise toward Him.
This girl was a great example to me. I needed to be reminded to show gratitude to God for even the tiniest things, like cocoa on a cold day.
Are you in the habit of thanking God for everything?
Will you take the project 365-grateful challenge?
