Several months ago, we recruited you to become Lies Young Women Believe roving reporters. Or should I say we tried to recruit you.
In a March blog post, we issued this challenge:
“We want you to become a LYWB roving reporter! Your mission? To dig up the dirt on what people really think about God and to capture it all on video.
We’ve added a cool new feature to LYWB.com. You can now upload your very own videos to the site. We’d like you to use this feature to complete a challenge originally issued in the LWYB companion guide. Check out the complete instructions below.
Have you been believing lies about God? You are not alone. To explore this area further, we want you to grab a video camera and start shooting. Interview your family, your friends, and your classmates and find out who they think God is. Consider yourself our newest LYWB roving reporter.
Submit your videos on Tangle.com or YouTube.com. Then, paste the video URL (located in a box to the right or the bottom of your video) in the form found here.
Thanks for going out there and getting the scoop on what people around you believe about God. Be sure to check back to see if we use your video on the blog to start a conversation about the lies you uncovered.”
A slew of you commented what a great idea this was. We agreed. So we issued the challenge, and we sat back and waited to see all the great footage we were sure you were going to send our way. And then, nothing … zip … zero … zilch. Not a single video was submitted.
I think I know why. No one wants to go first on this kind of thing. It’s great to add your video when there are already other videos posted. That way you can get a feel for what it’s supposed to look and feel like. I get it.
But someone’s got to go first. I think I know how to motivate you—free stuff! I’m willing to give away a copy of the Lies Young Women Believe Companion Guide to the first five girls who submit a video. And I’m willing to give away copies of Lies Young Women Believe to the next five girls who submit one. That’s ten free books in exchange for ten videos submitted on our site.
That’s the deal. You submit a video (c’mon you know you love this tech stuff!), and we give you free stuff. And if my plan works, having a stockpile of videos already on the site will make others feel comfortable about completing this challenge. You can find instructions about how to submit a video here. The rest is up to you.
Lights! Camera! Action!
