Freebie Friday! Beyond the Tree

I’m a grinch.

There I said it. My first reaction to the Christmas season is a lot less merry and bright than I’d like it to be. Like the Grinch who stole Christmas, my heart seems to be two sizes too small to take in the wonder of the true gift of Christmas, Immanuel—Christ with us!

That’s why year after year, I need the Christmas story. I need to open my Bible and read about the familiar characters—sleepy shepherds, amazing angels, plain parents. We all need to put down our rolls of wrapping paper and pick up the Bible often to help our hearts remember why Christmas is such a joyous occasion.

That’s why I wrote Beyond the Tree, a collection of devotionals designed to help me focus on the Christmas story found in God’s Word. Just like the Grinch, whose heart ballooned three sizes because of the kindness of the Whos, my heart swells to make room for worship when I read about the King of kings who came to rescue me that first Christmas morning.

I’ve got five copies of Beyond the Tree to give away. Log on to the giveaway widget below and then tell me what puts you in the Christmas spirit. Hurry! Winners will be chosen on Monday so you can start the devotionals ASAP.

Just for fun, here’s a classic reminder that no one likes a grinch!
