Freebie Friday! A Locker Design Contest

Yesterday I passed along some handy-dandy printables for you to use to cover your school supplies with truth this year. If you missed that post, here they are again:

35 Things I Wish I’d Known in High School
Bible Verse Memory Cards

Why do I care how you decorate your locker or want you to cover your binders with something other than doodles? Because God’s Word is standard issue armor for this school year. You need it to survive!

No matter where you go to school (or work), you are heading into a war zone! You will have to stand up for what’s right, resist temptations to buck God’s best, and fight for the hearts of the people in your world who do not yet know Jesus. Don’t step foot in the doors without this . . .

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Eph. 6:10–17).

Read that last sentence again. What is your only offensive weapon in this powerful suit of armor? It’s the Word of God (v. 17)! Don’t try to survive the school year without it.

I don’t want you to agree with me in theory, I want you to do so in practice. I’m giving you a little nudge by encouraging some friendly competition. Decorate your locker or binders or backpack with God’s Word. If you are homeschooled or in the workforce, you still need the Word of God! Find a way to plaster your world with truth. Then send a picture to our Twitter account @lywbblog using the hashtag #lockertruth. If you don’t have Twitter, you can email the pic to us at

I’ll pick my favorite locker design and send you the complete My Name Is Erin series along with an ESV Personal Study Bible. I’ll pick a winner next Friday.

Go on, decorate your world with truth!
