Friends, it’s your friendly neighborhood LYWB.com blog manager comin’ at ya from her bedroom with sweatpants, the coziest sherpa pullover, the messiest of messy buns, zero traces of makeup, and a steaming cup of tea. It’s work from home season, that’s for sure.
Quarantining has changed daily life for lots of us, hasn’t it?
We’re wrestling with disappointments, fears, cabin fever, and some intense boredom, aren’t we? It’s not easy when life gets turned upside-down, is it?
It’s not easy to trust God when your plans are trashed, when your heart is crushed, or when the coming days look dark and uncertain.
It’s not easy . . . but it’s possible. It’s possible to trust God—no matter what. It’s possible to believe that He is at work, even when you can’t see it, and it’s possible for that hope to propel you through the hardest stuff.
I’ve been there, friends, in the very darkest nights, and I’ve wanted to throw in the towel, walk away, and quit. I was done believing God was at work on my behalf, because everything I could see was painful and hard and overwhelming and suffocating. But God’s grace was too good and kind and powerful to let me walk away. He opened my eyes to His gentleness in the midst of the pain. His compassion captured me in the most wildly beautiful ways. And I began to see that God really was at work. I could trust Him. He’s been leading me through the darkness, and every time I trip and stumble and yelp because this hurts, He’s there with fresh mercy, reminding me of His promises from His Word.
So when I question if God’s got this . . . I have to believe Him. God has a perfect track record. He’s always showing up, in small gifts of grace, in big moments of rescue, and in ways I’ll never even see.
If this screen weren’t in-between us and if social distancing weren’t a thing right now, I’d grab your hands, look you in the eyes, and say, “God’s got this. You can trust Him. Right now is hard and scary, but You never know how He could use this in your life to do wildly good things in and through you.”
So let’s run to this truth over and over again together: God, we trust You. Things look and feel dark now, but we’ve seen You come through for us, we’ve seen You come through for Your people in Scripture, and we know that You aren’t going to leave us now. We may not feel it, we may not see what You’re doing, but we are declaring that our hope is in You!
And here’s one way we’re going to declare our hope in God on LYWB.com: we’re starting a six-week online Bible study!
I’m so excited, friends, because I believe we need this study right now, and it’s our free gift to you!
Starting today, April 1, through Wednesday, April 8, you can download the six-week study, Esther: Trusting God’s Plan, for free!
Tap this link to visit the Revive Our Hearts store, add the digital download to your cart, and use code ESTHER20 when you check out.
Next Wednesday, I’ll be back to dig into Week 1 of the study with you, and there’s even more exciting news: Revive Our Hearts has produced a podcast/video series to accompany the study, so we’re going to dive even deeper into the lessons with our friends Erin Davis, Betsy Gómez, Dr. Vanessa Ellen, and Carrie Gaul! (I love these women who love Jesus!)
The Old Testament book of Esther makes no reference to God, but the entire story bears the unmistakable imprint of His ways. Your faith will be strengthened as you see how God intervened to deliver His people from annihilation. God still masterfully orchestrates and weaves together every detail of our lives and this universe in jaw-dropping ways. Nothing and no one can thwart His plan!
So here’s the deal: if you’re staying at home and wondering how in the world this season could possibly be part of God’s good plan, you’ll want to download your free copy of this study. You’ll want to open your Bible and see how God comes through for His people in the book of Esther. That God who set an intricate plan into motion for Esther is the same God who loves and protects and heals and rescues and encourages us today.
We’re quarantined “together,” so let’s study Esther together.
Go download your copy using code ESTHER20, and tell all of your friends so they can get a free copy, too!
I can’t wait to declare our hope in God’s plan with you. I’ll see you back here next week, April 8, for Week 1.
