A Dream Come True

From the LYWB.com Team: To celebrate the release of their new book, we’ve turned the blog over to the ladies at Girl Defined this week. You already know Bethany; she’s a regular contributor to this blog. She runs Girl Defined with her sister Kristen. Learn all about them and their new book here.

I’ll never forget the day that my lifelong dream to become a published author became a glimmer of hope in my future. It started out just like any other day. There was nothing special about it. Kristen and I were together, going through the motions of our usual work routine, when THE email dropped in our inbox.

Before I share the story with you, would you mind putting yourself in our shoes?

Imagine that you’ve been dreaming, praying, and hoping for the opportunity to became a published author for years. The more you research, the less your dreams feel like they will ever become a reality. The road is so difficult, and you realize that actually securing a publishing contract is nearly impossible. Despite the obstacles, you keep working toward your goal. You keep praying and hoping that one day the impossible will become possible.

And then THE email arrives.

“I’m interested in talking with you both about book ideas and possible publication. Would you be interested?”

Seemingly out of nowhere, a publisher reached out to us to ask us to consider writing a book. We knew this awesome opportunity was from the Lord. Our big God can make big things happen!

Fast forward two years, and our dream has officially become a reality.

Meet Our Dream Come True

Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity and Identity officially launches today! How do we feel about it?

(Just to name a few!)

To us, this project is so much more than just another book on the shelves. It is a testimony of how awesome God is. He took two average girls from Texas, gave us a passion to minister to young women, gave us a dream of writing a book, opened doors that only He could open, gave us a publishing contract, perfectly guided the process, and turned our lifelong dreams into reality.

My faith in God has been beyond strengthened as I’ve seen Him do the impossible in my life.

When I held the Girl Defined book in my hands for the very first time, I couldn’t help but think, God, YOU are AWESOME!

I can’t wait for you to get your hands on a copy of this dream-come-true testimony. You can:

Do You Trust Him?

The point of this blog post isn’t to say, “Wow! Check out this book we wrote. Aren’t we awesome?” No way! The point of this blog is to say, “Wow! Check out how awesome our God is. Because of His incredible mercy and grace, He has used us to accomplish His purposes.”

I hope my story causes you to pause and remember how amazing God truly is.

Don’t limit God’s power. Seek to do His will, and you will not be disappointed. God will use you in ways that you never imagined were possible.

About Author

After a brief experience in the modeling industry, Bethany’s eyes were opened to how self-absorbed and lost her generation of young women really are. She and her older sister were inspired to start a blog (www.GirlDefined.com) and wrote a book Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity and Identity. Their passion is to help young women find God’s truth about beauty and womanhood and the freedom that comes from living a radically different life for Christ.
